Suratul Fatihah is The
opening Surah of the Holy Qur’an. It has a great many names, each one
indicating a different aspect of its meaning. Ubayy bin ka’ab said that our
beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has said:
Hadith:“…Must I not teach you a Surah, nothing
like it is in the Torah, Zabur, Bible and the Qur’an?, I Said yes,…… then he said:,
how do you read when you commence your Salah, then I recited Suratul Fatihah.
He said, it is, it is… “(Musnad Ahmad:
21133)
Anas reported that the Nabi Muhammad ﷺ said:
Hadith:Should I not inform you of the most noble and
excellent part of the Qur’an?” He then recited(Surah Fatihah) “All praise and
thanks are due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds” (Sunan Nasaai: 7957)
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Prophet ﷺ stated:
Hadith:“…One day a
special Angel came to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from heaven and after greeting he said:
be happy, you have been given two special “Noor”, no prophet before you were
blessed with: One is Surah Fatihah and the second is Surah Baqarah’s last
verses. Whatever you recite from them will surely be granted to you.(Sunan Nasaai: 7960… Mu’jam Kabeer Tabaraani: 12089)
Translation of Surah Al-Fatihah
In the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, All Merciful.
1. All praise be to Allah alone, the
Sustainer of all the worlds,
2. Most Compassionate, Ever-Merciful,
3. Master of the Day of Judgment.
4. (O Allah!) You alone do we worship and to
You alone do we look for help.
5. Guide us to the straight path,
6. The path of those upon whom You have
bestowed Your favors,
7. Not of those who have been afflicted with
wrath, nor of those who have gone astray.
